Job Overview & Responsibilities
At ULA, the Applications Engineer 3 provides advanced support, enhancement, and administration of enterprise applications across the SAP, Teamcenter, Microsoft, and custom solution ecosystems. This role supports the Centaur V (CV) work performed for NASA’s Space Launch Systems (SLS), ensuring availability, reliability, and modernization of mission‑critical systems. Responsibilities focus on building, integrating, automating, and maintaining applications and supporting infrastructure using both traditional and AI‑driven methods.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Application Architecture, Integration & Support (SAP / Teamcenter / Microsoft / Custom)
- Administer, maintain, and enhance key enterprise platforms including SAP and Teamcenter, aligning with ongoing modernization efforts such as S/4HANA migration, Teamcenter Copilot, and AI‑enabled applications
- Support cross‑functional application workflows, data integrations, and interface reliability across engineering, supply chain, operations, and IT
- Troubleshoot complex application issues, lead root‑cause analysis, and drive sustainable corrective actions
2. AI‑Driven Application & Infrastructure Management
- Leverage AI tools and emerging automation capabilities to optimize application performance, infrastructure monitoring, workflow efficiency, and issue resolution
- Prototype and implement custom AI‑supported solutions to improve reliability, reduce manual workload, and enhance system maintainability
3. Secure, Compliant, and Mission‑Focused Operations
- Support application operations and integrations in a manner consistent with export‑controlled data restrictions (ITAR), CUI safeguarding requirements, and applicable NIST security controls
- Support configuration, monitoring, and change management activities that ensure system resilience and compliance
- Contribute to improving operational processes, documentation, and runbooks for sustained enterprise stability
Required Education
Bachelor
Required Years of Experience
Minimum of 4 years of related work experience
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 4 years of experience supporting and administering enterprise applications (SAP, Teamcenter, Microsoft stack, or similar mission‑critical platforms)
- Experience with application troubleshooting, configuration, interface support, and system integration across multiple technologies
- Demonstrated ability to adopt and apply AI‑based tools or automation platforms to enhance reliability, reduce manual overhead, or streamline technical workflows
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently at a professional Level‑3 scope
- Familiarity with security and compliance expectations associated with ITAR, CUI, and regulated/mission‑critical environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA, Teamcenter, Microsoft 365 ecosystem, or custom enterprise applications in aerospace or defense environments
- Hands‑on experience with AI‑assisted coding, AI‑enabled applications, or AI‑driven support tools
- Experience architecting or implementing automation for application monitoring, deployment, or infrastructure management
- Familiarity with PLM, ERP, or engineering system workflows, including data pipelines or cross‑domain integrations
- Demonstrated creativity and adaptability in designing or implementing custom solutions to support evolving mission and business needs
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices relevant to enterprise applications operating within regulated environments
Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only): $104,087.00 - $173,479.00
Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
