Job Overview & Responsibilities
As a development Avionics IMU Components Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) engineer, you will be responsible for requirements, design, development, and vendor management of new GN&C components for ULA launch vehicles.
This engineering position will be working on programs for Engine Reuse, Upperstage Resiliency, and next generation avionics development. Components may include Star Tracker, Sun Sensors, IMU’s, High Performance Gyros and Accelerometers. Responsibilities may include:
- Executing trade studies for new guidance system capabilities and component needs.
- Developing GN&C component requirements.
- Selecting, working, and managing suppliers on component development.
- Developing test requirements and sequences.
- Supporting qualification testing and performing hardware/software integration.
- Develop schedules and execution plans alongside vendors.
- Support PDRs, CDRs, and other gate reviews.
- Manage multiple development and test programs simultaneously.

Minimum of 2 years of related work experience
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
- Demonstrated experience working with hardware development that includes mechanical and electrical designs to guidance principles.
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings, parts lists, thermal analysis, test procedures, SOWs, engineering estimates, and schematics.
- Experience troubleshooting, problem-solving, coordination and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to make difficult, quick-turn decisions to ULA requirements and test parameters.
- Self-motivated to manage and close on assignments, testing, and vendor execution.
- Experience with communicating with customers, vendors, and chief engineers.
- Available to travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated project or professional experience in launch vehicle, missile and/or spacecraft systems.
- Knowledge of Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs).
- Knowledge of Kalman Filters.
- Knowledge of basic orbital mechanics.
- Experience with inertial error sources (accelerometer bias, scale factor, gyro parameters, etc).
- Experience with a software language (C, C++, Matlab, Python).
Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only): $87,260.00 - $136,290.00
