Job Overview & Responsibilities

  

ULA provides premier, heavy-lift expendable launch vehicle services in support of a variety of customers, including Commercial companies, the US Space Force, National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), and NASA.

The Contracts Administrator serves as primary interface with external customers and conducts contract activities to provide proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and U.S. Government acquisition regulations and requirements. In support of prime contract arrangements, there is also a significant amount of interface with internal customers on proposal development and contract negotiations, execution, and administration.

You will participate within the Acquisition Services group, an agile team that operates in a dynamic environment. The nature of work requires exercising prudent judgment, sound and strategic decision making, and analytical skills to determine the manner and operational steps necessary to perform tasks within professional standards.

The Contracts Administrator will:

  • Manage ULA’s contracts with commercial customers, such as Amazon and Boeing, as well as US Government customers to provide overall life-cycle contract administration and all administrative support activities such as proposal development, negotiation support, external correspondence drafting and finalization, invoicing, and support of the mission team and customer. 
  • Lead, conduct, and participate in front-end contract discussions with customers and conduct strategic assessments of business pursuits and proposal preparation. Proactively develop solutions to address gaps in negotiation positions and shape paths to closure.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including the legal department, to identify contractual and program risks, recommend mitigation strategies, ensure alignment with company policies, and ensure agreements protect the organization’s interests while enabling business objectives.  Interface closely with in-house counsel to manage and communicate risks.  Advise management of contractual rights and obligations, as well as means to mitigate contractual/program risks; compile and analyze data; and maintain historical information.
  • Participate in change activities to include, but not limited to, change boards, reviews, estimates/proposals and a myriad of other activities in support of the contract/program.
  • Maintain well organized internal contract logs (correspondence, invoicing, change orders, etc.). Support internal and external audits, as necessary, and ensure contract administration activities are compliant with internal policies and standards.

 

Required Education

Bachelor

 

Required Years of Experience

Minimum of 6 years of related work experience

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Business Administration, or related field of study from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience working in a legal and/or corporate office environment.
  • Experience with commercial Firm Fixed Price Contracts, ideally within the aerospace and defense industry.
  • Experience working with legal counsel and cross-functional business teams.
  • Knowledge of commercial contracting and ability to manage multiple contracts and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to navigate an ambiguous environment.
  • Impeccable attention to detail, passion for driving change, and ability to look at big picture.
  • Engages in a variety of tasks ranging from recurring tasks to those calling for judgment and independent initiative.
  • Self-starter and complex problem solver, especially with issues requiring ingenuity and innovation.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior law firm experience.
  • Business environment exposure – Business Law OR Contract Law, OR Contract Management may include college course work, internships, or prior work experience.

Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only):  $102,821.00 - $171,368.00

Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
