Job Overview & Responsibilities
As a Design Modeling and Configuration Engineer with ULA you will be collaborating with an innovative technical team, you will work to create and maintain software, hardware, and documentation configuration baselines through the use of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) System, Teamcenter Review. You will update, and process electrical and mechanical design changes to ensure compliance with modeling and design standards while ensuring compliance to engineering and configuration management procedures, company and industry standards.
The role will include duties and responsibilities such as:
- Ensuring that all engineering change requests are appropriately documented, reviewed, approved, and communicated in a timely manner.
- Generating, populating, and submitting change requests including manage compilation and synthesis of impact analyses.
- Executing and implementing change notices (ensure that the checklist of change implementation activities fully completed, including validating the completion of changes to the Engineering and Manufacturing Bills of Materials, and setting effectivity for changes.)
- Generating insights into the integrity and efficacy of the change process, including calculating the cost of change, tracking the speed and rate of rework of changes etc.
- Managing and curating the program configuration data needed for critical design gate reviews.
- Working with Configuration Management Analysts to ensure that that critical data is captured, recorded and distributed.
- Analyzing product baselines (EBOM, MBOMs etc.) in Teamcenter for compliance to industry and organization standards.
- Supporting configuration management reviews and audits, including FCA/PCA and provide direction before, during and after the events to prevent or resolve issues.
- Performing periodic audits of as-built records as product definition data in Teamcenter (EBOM, MBOM etc.)
- Working with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain teams, to understand proposed design changes and their impact.
- Working with stakeholder teams (Engineering, Manufacturing etc.) to conduct thorough impact assessments to identify potential risks and implications of proposed changes, working closely with stakeholders to devise mitigation strategies.
- Provide CAD tool user support
- Develop and manage large complex 3D model structures to define the completed engineering design
- Producing and manipulating 3D visualizations for design integration, visual comprehension and understanding of complex designs and structures
- Develop alternative 3D models to perform leading edge technology efforts, such as model based definitions, additive manufacturing (3D printing) and proposed vehicle designs
- Driving the future of digital engineering and manufacturing at ULA.
Required Education
Bachelor
Required Years of Experience
Minimum of 4 years of related work experience
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, nuclear, manufacturing or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
- Proven Manufacturing Engineering experience (Product structure, parts, drawings and requirements management).
- Zuken, NX, Creo or other CAD modeling experience
- Demonstrated experience working in a high rigor environment (aerospace, automotive, security systems, medical devices, nuclear, etc.).
- Familiar with configuration management principles and practices.
- Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) and/or data management toolsets for configuration management of complex products.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously such as engineering review efforts and CAD efforts
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Self-motivated to manage and close on assignments
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications
- Available to support launch and issues outside of business hours
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Knowledge of configuration management processes and procedures
- Experience working to EIA-649, ISO and AS9100 requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace industry.
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) ASME Y 14.5
- Proficient in technical writing of processes and procedures.
- Experience with Teamcenter, Teamcenter Requirements, Teamcenter Quality, Confluence & JIRA.
- Database skills with SQL, queries, etc.
- Experience with Teamcenter or Windchill PLM Software
- Experience with configuration identification, change control, status accounting, audit and data management
- Experience working in a Model Based Enterprise (MBE) environment
- Experience with launch operations
- Ability to present in front of customers and working with customers
- Be willing to acknowledge fault immediately and learn from the mistake
- Be open to constructive feedback
Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only): $94,862.00 - $158,103.00
Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
