Job Overview & Responsibilities
- Perform Electromagnetic Interference / Compatibility (EMI / EMC) analysis relating to launch vehicles and payload integration.
- Review customer EMI / EMC requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain EMI / EMC Control Plans
- Review electrical and mechanical drawings for requirement verification.
- Support electrical and mechanical design engineers with detailed guidance on EMC design.
- Present / participate at Design Reviews and Engineering Review Boards.
- Develop and coordinate qualification test requirements.
- Support EMI / EMC qualification testing at suppliers; review and disposition test results.
- Work with internal and external customers to coordinate issues and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Provide EMI / EMC support to the production factory and launch sites.
- Support ULA sites with Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) requirements and implementation of protection.
- Conduct in-house EMI / EMC testing in ULA’s EMC lab.
- Lead a team of EMI / EMC engineers including mentoring, advising, and coaching
Required Education
Bachelor
Required Years of Experience
Minimum of 6 years of related work experience
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other related technical field from an accredited college or university.
- Min. of 6 years of relevant EMI/EMC experience
- Experience with MIL-STD-461F
- Experience using test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, amplifiers, antennas, oscilloscopes, LISNs, etc.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD TS/SCI is required. US citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, DO-160, and/or SMC-S-008.
- Deep understanding of lightning characteristics, space charging effects, triboelectric charging, and the shielding, grounding, and bonding of flight hardware.
- Familiarity with nuclear radiation and/or high-energy plasma environments.
- Experience with simulation and analysis tools such as EMA3D, HFSS, Speco, ANSYS, MATLAB, Pspice, and Mathcad.
- Skilled in creating and reviewing EMI safety margins in support of specific missions.
- Experience analyzing mission interface control documents (ICDs) and ESD curves.
- Capable of closing requirement verifications and contributing to Qualification Test Requirements Summary (QTRS) processes.
- Proactive and solutions-oriented, with a strong sense of urgency in resolving technical issues.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven troubleshooting, problem-solving, and coordination abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, with openness to constructive feedback.
Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only): $116,641.00 - $194,402.00
