Job Overview & Responsibilities

  

At ULA, the Solutions Architect is responsible for designing, guiding, and advancing enterprise solutions across Windows infrastructure, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services. This role works across on-premises and cloud environments to translate business and technical requirements into secure, scalable, supportable, and cost-conscious architecture decisions. 

  • Interpret and communicate cybersecurity and contractual requirements (NIST SP 800‑171, NIST SP 800‑53 non-RMF, NIST SP 800‑172, DFARS 7012, ISO 27001) and convert them into actionable, practical architecture.
  • Design secure architectures across Azure/GCC‑H, AWS, SaaS platforms, hybrid environments, identity systems, and manufacturing/engineering technology workflows.
  • Develop architectural patterns for identity & access management, Zero Trust segmentation, endpoint protection, logging/monitoring, encryption/KMS, secure data flows, cloud posture, and external collaboration.
  • Conduct risk-based architectural analysis and present balanced security options to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Review new systems, applications, integrations, and cloud services to ensure they are securely designed and an appropriate architectural fit.
  • Partner deeply with:
    • Collaborate with IT and Infrastructure teams to align security with enterprise platforms
    • Consult with DevOps / Software Engineering teams to ensure secure development, CI/CD, and cloud-native design
    • Collaborate with Engineering & Mission teams to incorporate security early into system design
  • Be able to Communicate architectural decisions clearly and build consensus across diverse technical and business teams.

 

Required Education

Bachelor

 

Required Years of Experience

Minimum of 6 years of related work experience

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field from an accredited college or university
  • 4+ years in cybersecurity, security engineering, or security architecture
  • 3+ years designing enterprise, cloud, or engineering system security architecture
  • Strong technical background across identity, networking, cloud platforms, endpoint security, and system architecture
  • Practical experience with NIST SP 800‑171, DFARS 7012, ISO 27001, and regulated-data environments
  • Ability to translate requirements into clear architecture and communicate the rationale behind decisions
  • Proven ability to collaborate across IT, engineering, manufacturing, DevOps, GTC, and Legal
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace & Defense or other highly regulated industries (e.g., medical device, critical infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, finance)
  • On premise and hybrid environments including Azure/GCC‑H and/or AWS GovCloud security architecture
  • DevSecOps, CI/CD, containers/Kubernetes
  • CUI or Defense Industrial Base architecture.
  • Cloud federation and secure external collaboration.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, ISSAP, SABSA, GIAC, or cloud security certs.

Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only):  $131,834.00 - $219,724.00

Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
