Job Overview & Responsibilities

  

The Structures System Engineering Integrator is part of a multi-disciplinary Systems Engineering Team in the Recurring Chief Engineer’s Office, responsible for driving rigorous systems engineering into ULA’s Vulcan and Atlas Launch Vehicle Systems. Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Supporting primary and secondary Structures on both first and second stages including composites.
  • Supporting additional vehicle systems as needs arise (e.g. Ordnance, Propulsion, Payload Accommodations).
  • Performing integration ensuring that subsystems function together as an integrated system by managing mechanical, propulsion, avionics, software, and analysis interfaces.
  • Supporting all systems engineering activities including requirements development and verification, failure mode analysis, test-like-you fly, risk/issue/opportunity management, trade studies, and gate reviews.
  • Supporting all phases of total system product: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, certification, operation, reuse, maintenance, and disposal.
  • Applying appropriate scaling of systems engineering activities commensurate with the specific project needs.
  • Developing project schedules and then executing to them to meet critical milestones. 
  • Leading cross-functional project teams on complex integration issues.
  • Interfacing with external customers and presents in customer reviewers.
  • Leading systems engineering process and tool development and continuous improvement.
  • Synchronizing with the Vulcan Development organization to ensure Recurring operations successfully onboards new capabilities.
  • Mentoring junior engineers, helping develop a cadre of world-class Systems Engineers at ULA.

 

Required Education

Bachelor

 

Required Years of Experience

Minimum of 6 years of related work experience

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or relevant technical field from an accredited college or university
  • 3+ years of Systems engineering and Mechanical engineering experience 
  • Experience developing, integrating, and verifying requirements
  • Experience integrating complex topics with cross-functional teams
  • Proven experience of demonstrating initiative, teamwork, and leadership skills on previous technical projects
  • Effective communicator in both written and presentation formats.
  • Strong organizational skills with expeirence managing multiple priorities
  • Experience with Teamcenter (or equivalent) requirements management software, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoin

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous work experience in an Aerospace company
  • Experience with both design and analytical sides of mechanical engineering
  • Diversity of previous engineering experience
  • Previous work experience operating in a technical lead capacity
  • Advanced understanding of systems engineering principles

Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only):  $116,641.00 - $194,402.00

Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
