Job Overview

This position supports ULA’s Vulcan Development organization, contributing to upgrades to the Vulcan Centaur launch system and development activities that expand ULA’s future launch capabilities. Level 4 Systems Engineers are technical leaders and senior integrators on the cross-functional development teams. This role requires deep engineering expertise, broad system understanding, and the ability to drive technical strategy, integrate across subsystems, mentor the engineering community, and shape digital engineering execution.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary integration across with cross-technology airborne development teams.
  • Own system-level requirements, architecture definition, and verification strategy.
  • Lead complex technical analyses, subsystem interactions, and failure investigations.
  • Drive major trade studies and provide technically authoritative recommendations.
  • Shape SE processes, digital engineering workflows, and configuration-controlled system artifacts.
  • Mentor and coach engineers across the organization; elevate technical rigor and critical thinking.
  • Represent systems engineering in enterprise-wide technical forums and cross-program alignment activities.
  • Drive high-visibility review products and strategic technical decision packages.
  • Champion Agile principles and help teams apply Agile ways of working to accelerate learning, improve integration cadence, and increase delivery effectiveness.

 

Required Education

Bachelor

 

Required Years of Experience

Minimum of 6 years of related work experience

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Deep technical expertise in one or more engineering domains relevant to launch vehicles (propulsion, structures, avionics, FSW/GSW, etc.).
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams through complex technical integration challenges.
  • Experience defining system architecture, performance allocations, verification logic, and integration plans.
  • Strong engineering judgment and ability to guide technical decisions with minimal oversight.
  • Experience leading major design reviews and presenting to technical leadership.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recognized technical influencer able to elevate SE discipline across projects and teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor integrators and early-career engineers.
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex engineering information and communicate clearly to senior leadership, peers, and customers.
  • Capability in digital engineering / MBSE, including model architecture development, model fidelity expectations, digital thread integration, and model governance.
  • Experience leading digital engineering adoption or contributing to enterprise-level MBSE transformation.
  • Experience leading Agile teams or shaping Agile behaviors across. 

Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only):  $121,307.00 - $202,178.00

Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
