Job Overview & Responsibilities
The Chief Engineer Senior Staff position supports the Recurring Operations Chief Engineer and Product Line Chief Engineer in management of the technical baseline across all product lines. This individual provides technical oversight over engineering projects enabling increase of launch rate, clearing the mission constraints and leading technical integration of special projects. This position reports to the Government and Commercial Programs (GCP) Director of Engineering.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure execution of engineering projects support mission need, flight constraints are cleared supporting missing need and technical baseline for product line is maintained in accordance with system engineering practices.
- Chairs technical decision making reviews with responsibility for the appropriate technical content, programmatic impact assessments and risk evaluation.
- When leading the closure open issues, ensure strong integration across technologies and programs utilizing a variety of methods including systems engineering, technical risk assessments, technical planning, verification and validation, supportability, and effectiveness analyses of total systems throughout the system’s lifecycle from development thru flight.
- Provides Technical leadership for advanced concepts studies with a focus on guidance and flight sciences.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
- Experience with complex launch vehicle, missile or space systems with demonstrated expertise in systems integration, design, analysis, and/or test of complex systems.
- Experience in evaluating, balancing and accepting cost, schedule and technical risk.
- Proven team leadership experience in systems design and development.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve and drive to closure technical issues using with a balanced risk posture using critical thinking in the decision making process.
- Excellent communication skills, with experience in engaging and influencing leadership of both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD TS/SCI is required. US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of science or higher degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
- Active DoD TS/SCI is preferred. US citizenship is required.
- 15+ years of experience with launch vehicle systems integration and flight sciences, with significant controls background.
- Experience with risk management for launch systems.
- Experience working in production and development life cycles.
- Experience working with NRO, Space Force, NASA and Commercial customers.
Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only): $167,518.00 - $279,196.00
