Job Overview & Responsibilities

  

The Sales & Use Tax Specialist 3 is an individual contributor position who reports to the Assistant Controller. They are responsible for:
Accurate and timely filing of sales and use tax returns and payments for multiple jurisdictions.

  • Preparing and distributing sales tax exemption certificates and manage vendor information in Vertex and SAP systems.
  • Performing daily analysis of related data from SAP and Vertex software to maximize tax savings and minimize audit exposure.
  • Ensuring that changes in tax laws are implemented properly.
  • Daily interactions with internal customers, such as accounts payable, supply chain, program finance, and external vendors.
  • Helping determine and pursue courses of action necessary to increase efficiencies and reduce tax exposure.
  • Designing, modifying and installing and/or maintaining software systems to ensure an adequate recognition of tax and financial transactions.
  • Compiling and analyzing financial information to record transactions, prepare reports, and review and verify accuracy.
  • Maintaining or overseeing the control of accounts and records in such areas as disbursements, expenses, and tax payments.
  • Performing balance sheet reconciliations, prepare/record journal entries, and assist with month end financial close procedures.

 

Required Education

Bachelor

 

Required Years of Experience

Minimum of 4 years of related work experience

 

Basic Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Four years of directly related exempt work experience may be used to satisfy the bachelor's degree requirement. 
  • Sales And Use Tax Compliance Knowledge
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills (Pivot Tables Important)
  • Tax Research and Ability to Analyze and Interpret State and Local Tax Laws
  • Is A Self-Starter and Demonstrates Ownership of Assigned Tasks
  • This opportunity may be located in Centennial, CO, Decatur, AL or Cape Canaveral, FL.

  • Vertex Software Proficiency
  • Public Accounting Experience
  • Understanding Of Accounting Rules and Procedures Including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver, ULA - Cape Canaveral, ULA - Decatur only):  $83,376.00 - $130,239.00

Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
