Job Overview & Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of tasks that includes precision measurement of large structural flight hardware utilizing laser trackers, laser scanners, and Faro Arms. Examining engineering drawings and related documents for soundness, efficiency, and design for manufacturing (DFMA), as well as tooling design review and approval.
- Performs a variety of tasks that include production dimensional inspection and assembly of large structural flight hardware and tooling, tool design review and approval, tool inspection, inspection and control of method of acceptance tooling, and machine qualification support.
- Application of geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) to ensure product acceptance. Assure drawing to model interrogation by confirming the drawing format conforms to detail/assembly views.
- Verify design to design/drafting standards; coordinate drawing requirements to design based upon design specification and design for manufacturing.
- Participates and/or leads concurrent engineering activities to ensure design for manufacturability on new designs of large machined components.
- Provide input to fabrication, assembly, and installation based on application/analysis of technically derived data. Assists in development of basic data for design proposals, as well as coordinates with other organizations affected by design development.
- Provide validation and technical guidance to improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations through improved procedural control of command media documents.
- Provide technical assistance/troubleshooting to support cause and corrective action.
Required Education
High School/GED
Required Years of Experience
Minimum of 2 years of related work experience
Basic Qualifications
- Intermediate understanding/interpretation of blueprint drawings
- Knowledge of precision measurement equipment and processes (e.g. laser trackers, probing, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), etc.)
- Physical requirements that include no limitations regarding working, climbing, crawling, lifting, bending, and performing precision measurements in an industrial environment
- The ability and willingness to take ownership of work activities and ensure they are completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner with minimal oversight/direction
- Ability to interface and work effectively with various functional groups/organizations
- Display high levels of interpersonal communication skills with the ability to accurately interpret messages from others and respond appropriately and professionally
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Experience in recording and manipulation of data in Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- CNC Machining background
- Experience using any type of Computer Aided Design (CAD) software
- Two years of applied experience performing Precision Measurement activity while working in a manufacturing environment
- Work experience with interpretation of precision measurement results and application to precision manufacturing
- One year experience in the analysis and development of measurement strategies to obtain objective data based on drawing requirements
- Demonstrated competence in using laser trackers to perform precision measurement
- Demonstrated higher level use of Excel to establish data collection & analysis (e.g. Pivot Tables, Formulas, etc.)
- Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T) certification
- Demonstrated use of Spatial Analyzer Software
- Experience with Model Based Definition (MBD) drawings/models
